Appreciating Cardinal Joseph Coates’ services for interfaith harmony and humanitarian service in Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan has conferred him with Sitara-e-Imtiaz. The award, which is given in recognition of the promotion of unity and solidarity between the Christian community and all religions in the country, was presented to the President of Pakistan. Cardinal Joseph Coates, through his long-standing religious and social services, has played an unforgettable role in promoting peace, brotherhood and harmony in Pakistan. Under his leadership, the Christian community has always spread the message of interfaith tolerance and love, thanks to which harmony has been promoted among followers of different religions. Reverend Joel Bhatti said that this honor of Cardinal Joseph Coates is a matter of pride for the entire country because he has always promoted interfaith dialogue and spread the message of peace and love. Mufti Ashiq Hussain and Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui also praised his services in glowing terms and called him a true ambassador of peace for Pakistan. Javed Inayat, Ijaz Younis and Albert Urooj Bhatti also termed this award as a milestone and said that Cardinal Joseph Coates’ work is an example in social harmony and protection of minority rights. His continuous struggle has helped not only the Christian community but also all religious minorities to gain a stable foothold. This award is a reflection of the fact that people of different religions in Pakistan are playing their role equally for national development and harmony. The recognition of Cardinal Joseph Coates’ services is a positive step that will lead to the promotion of further religious harmony and tolerance in the future.
